“Art Favours Nothing in Particular”


My Interest is in reanimating earlier strains of European abstraction - the image-inventions of the ‘modern’ era - specifically paintings relationship between objecthood (the wall) and illusion (the window), a pictorial, fictive space, which blurs the distinction between the abstract and the material world. That is to say, the means of abstraction is used in order to engage the picture plane as just that - a plane for picturing to happen . What hopefully develops is a way for abstract painting to still be engaging
