Drawing Dialogue

Why create art? For me it is a balance. I am a firm believer in ‘art for art’s sake’.  I glean a childlike joy from capturing the world around me. Fashioning a view of my 3D world in a 2D space. Whilst I often work from Life in a traditional model, I am also inclined to use art to examine my thoughts on current affairs, or family values. I am currently working on a series of subtle floral prints that started as a reaction to Brexit.

Since moving to France less than one year ago it has been my great pleasure to meet Gabriela Boiangiu and be invited to join the ‘Drawing Dialogue’ collective. It allowed me to challenge myself intellectually and begin rediscovering my artistic self. I was previously based at Studio 3, Stamford Arts Centre in the U.K where I was a regular exhibitor and Fine Art Teacher. I also had the pleasure of teaching Life Drawing at the beautiful, historic City Gallery, in Peterborough. I took part in the Arts Council England Sponsored ‘Stamford Arts Festival’ and worked as an Arts Educator for the biannual ‘Gravity Fields Festival’, Grantham that promotes the life works of Sir Isaac Newton.
